RJD accuses state govt of failing to execute welfare schemes
Patna, May 10 (UNI) Union Rural Development Minister and Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) vice-president Raghuvansh Prasad Singh today accused the Nitish Kumar government in the state of failing to spend the money granted by the Centre for the welfare of Dalits.
Speaking here at a conference ''Dalit Ekta Mahasammelan'', Mr Singh said, ''Nitish government is politicising the issue in the name of Dalit and Mahadalit. Inspite of the instructions from Union government, the state government has failed to make correction in the BPL list as it lacks will power to make correction in the right earnest.'' The state government also failed to bring transparency in the ongoing construction works of houses under Indira Awas Yojna(IAY) as a result of which the beneficiaries are living without pucca houses, promised under provisions of IAY, Mr Singh said.
Inspite its promises to redress the grievances of Dalits, the state government had failed to fulfill the community's aspirations.
About one lakh Dalits were suffering from Kalaazar in the state with no assistance from the state government, he added.
He also blamed the state government of failing in distributing scholarships among the SC/ST students granted by the Centre for their educational upliftment.
