Lahore, May 10 (UNI) PCB Chairman Nasim Ashraf today asserted that the Champions Trophy would be held in the country as schedule saying,''there is no uncertainty or ambuguity about it.'' Ashraf, who had a meeting with acting ICC Chief Executive Dave Richardson in Dubai, added that he has thrashed out several issues with the world body.
''We also had some reservations over some issues which have now been cleared. We have been assured the tournament would not be moved from Pakistan,'' he said.
The chairman also informed that the event would be covered by a security plan which would be finalised by the hosts and the ICC.
This is the first that Pakistan has been selected to host the Champions Trophy. However, the unstable security scenario in the country has threatened to spoil the party.
An ICC security delegation will pay a visit next month to review the security arrangements.
If the delegation gives a negative report, then as per ICC regulations, the tournament can be shifted to standby country Sri Lanka.
If, however, the security delegation gives the all clear, Pakistan will be the hosts unless the event is cancelled or postponed.
