Jammu, May 10 (UNI) Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said borders should be opened to facilitate trade and boost economic growth of people living on both the sides.
Mr Sayeed, while addressing a meeting at party headquarters here, said his government had set an example of equitable and balanced development in the state.
''PDP-led coalition regime has laid a foundation of mutual trust and confidence among inhabitants of different regions and sub-regions of the State and our government treated all regions equally as also backward and ignored regions were given special attention,'' the PDP patron said.
''The previous NDA regime, headed by Atal Behari Vajpayee, and the present UPA government, led by Dr Manmohan Singh, have supported initiatives taken by us for restoring peace in this region,'' Mr Sayeed said adding, ''we have set an example how to deliver good governance.'' ''Time is not far when the Sailkote-Suchetgarh road will be opened for trade to facilitate economic growth of people living on both sides,'' Mr Sayeed said and added that after formation of a coalition regime, they fulfilled the commitments and it was due to the policies being propagated by their government that situation imporved in the state.
