Jananayak Exp derails, disrupts traffic on Jalandhar-Amritsar route
Jalandhar, May 10 (UNI) Rail traffic on Jalandhar-Amritsar route was distrupted due to derailment of two bogeys and engine of Darbhanga bound Jananayak Express just after it left the Jalandhar City railway station in the wee hours today.
Railway sources said the engine and two bogeys of the Darbhanga-Amritsar Jananayak Express (5211) were derailed at 0220 hrs near Damoria bridge just outside the city railway station. However, no one was injured in the incident, the sources added.
Most of the trains coming from Ludhiana were diverted to Amritsar via Pathankot from Jalandhar Cantt railway station itself but a few of them including Amritsar-Delhi Shatabdi, Sachkhand Express and Amritsar-New Delhi Superfast were stopped ahead of the station, the sources said.
The railway authorities at Ludhiana also refunded the ticket amount of the passenger, who were to board these trains from Ludhiana.
Meanwhile, the railway sources informed that departmental enquiry has been ordered to find out the exact cause of the derailment.
The railway track had been repaired and normal railway traffic was restored at 1300 hrs.
