Integration camp to spread AIDS awareness in Manipur

Imphal, May 10: A National Integration Camp has been organised in Manipur from May 5-11 to spread awareness about the deadly disease, AIDS as well as inform the people about modern scientific methods of treatment.

Addressing the participants of the camp, organised by the Nehru Youva Kendra here today at Thoubal district, Dr Khomdon said issues about AIDS and the HIV should be discussed freely among the youth so that they could be armed to fight the disease.

Besides, a social service camp and tree plantation camp was also organised.

A lecture-cum-demonstration for search and rescue operations, stretcher making, artificial respiration and making of rope knot were also conducted by Thoubal NCC Officer Ak Lolendro.

Prof W Nabakumar Singh, HoD, Anthropology, Manipur University, delivered a lecture on inculcation of scientific temperament and secularism among the youth.

Professional artists from Meehourol Inat Sintam Sanglen, Thoubal Houkha and the Song and Drama Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Imphal Centre, also presented various performances at the camp.
