Hamirpur, May 10 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today stressed the need for re-writing India's history in the right perspective.
Addressing a function organised by Thakur Jagdev Chand Research Institute, the Chief Minister said the nation had a glorious past and its history required to be re-written based on the factual incidents so that fitire generation would be well acquainted with it.
''There were innumerable freedom fighters who had fought for the independence of country, but unfortunately their contribution did not find mention in the history and facts are required to be compiled to write actual history of the country,'' he added.
He also expressed strong resentment over the controversy over singing Saraswati Vandana in schools. ''Some sections of society are politically motivated and because of political interests they object the singing of Saraswati Vandana in schools,'' he said, adding that ''such songs are needed to be given due honour.'' Mr Dhumal said the state government had made mandatory to sing Vande Matram in all important functions with a view to inculcate spirit of patriotism among people.
