CPM to fight communal forces: Brinda Karat

Gulbarga, May 10 (UNI) CPI(M) to highlight the twin issues of fight against communalism and price rise in the coming Karantaka assembly elections, party's polit bureau Brinda Karat said here today.

Addressing a press conference here today Ms Brinda Karat said that the main target of the party in Karnataka was to defeat the communal forces which were ought to didivd the society and form a secular government in the state.

She said that the CPI(M) would also highlight the issues of communalism in a big way in the country and also rising inflation which is affecting all strata of the society.

Expressing satisfaction over the introduction of women reservation bill in the parliament, party was main responsible behind the introduction of the bill and refer it to the standing committee.

Hoping that there would be no hurdle in passing the bill, she said that the BJP led NDA government had failed even to introduce the bill in parliament." If the BJP supports the bill even now we welcome them" she clarified.

"The BJP led NDA government had only talked about the bill but did not do anything further" she criticised and lauded that the UPA government was able to introduce it in the Parlkemaht.

Refuting the charges that Left parties have failed to bring pressure on UPA government to agree for ban on future trading in commodities, Ms Karat said that that Finance Minister Chidambaram had agreed to ban future's trading on some more commodities.

The CPI(M) leader announced that the party would organise mass picketings on May 15 infront of all government offices across the country in an effort to mount pressure on the centers to take steps to brings down prices.
