Hyderabad, May 10 (UNI) The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials today arrested a woman hailing from Thailand and seized 2.220 kg heroin, valued at Rs 2.22 crore, from her suitcase at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here.
DRI Additional Director General P Prabhu said on a tip-off from the Central Intelligence, the DRI officials arrested Korinwhipha Pinkao who was about to board Malaysian Airlines Flight MH 199, at the airport.
On examination of her checked baggage, the DRI officials found heroin pouch concealed in a false cavity of the suitcase.
The value of the heroin was Rs 2.22 crore in the international market.
The accused, who came to New Delhi on a tourist visa on April 30, arrived in Hyderabad on May nine by a Jetlite flight.
She was immediately produced before a Metropolitan Sessions Judge who remanded her in judicial custody till May 25. She was lodged in the Chenchalguda Jail.
