Rahul to address tribal and dalit conference

Bhubaneswar, May 09 (UNI) AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi will address a state level dalit and tribal conferences during his one day visit to Orissa on May 13, Indian Youth Congress president Ashok Tanwar said here today.

Talking to newsmen, Mr.Tanwar said both the dalit and the tribal conference would be held separately at Cuttack to identify the potential leadership quality of tribal and dalit youths.

Mr.Kanwar said Mr.Gandhi would first arrive at Angul to attend a thanks giving ceremony by the Orissa unit of the INTUC in the wake of the public sector National Aluminium Company Limited(NALCO) conferring the Navaratna status.

He would address a public meeting there organised jointly by the INTUC and the Pradesh Congress before leaving for Cuttack to address the dalit and tribal conference.

Mr.Kanwar claimed that Mr Gandhi has taken keen interest for the development of Orissa and as a result the UPA government had announced for setting up of IIT and Central University in the state.

During the dalit and tribal conference, Mr.Gandhi,the Indian Youth Congress president said, would be apprised of the various problems faced by the dalits and the tribals in the state.

During his brief visit, Mr.Gandhi is scheduled to meet some senior Congress leaders.This would be his second visit to the state during the last three months.

Earlier in March last, he toured several tribal districts in western,northern and southern Orissa during his four days stay, interacted with the tribals at various places to know their problems and assured them to take up their cause with the UPA government.
