Priya apprehends more deaths in Nandigram if poll is on schedule
Berhampore, May 09 (UNI) Congress leader and Union Minister Priya Ranjan Das Minshi today apprehended that there will be more deaths in embattled Nandigram if the May 11 Panchayat elections there are not postponed.
Campaigning in Goaljan gram panchayat in Murshidabad district, the Information and Broadcasting minister rued that there was no 'Ganatantra'(democracy) in West Bengal but only 'partytantra'(party rule).
He lashed out at the ruling CPI(M) led Left Front for the 'sorry situation' in the state, particularly in Nandigram.
''If the elections in Nandigram are held as scheduled there will be more deaths,'' he warned.
Of the total 3534 seats for the May 18 three-tier Panchayat polls in Murshidabad the Congress has fielded 3317 candidates.
