Non-ferrous metals rise
Mumbai, May 9 (UNI) Non-ferrous metals rose today on good demand by stockists from Kolkata, Delhi and Indore and other centres, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange (BME) said.
There was a downward trend in the London Metal Exchange, BME traders said.
In non-ferrous metal categories, copper wire bars, lead ingot and tin slab registered an upward trend.
Copper wire bars and lead ingot advanced by Rs 100 per quintal each amid fresh buying support by stockists even as tin slab also shot up by Rs 40 per kg on physical buying by stockists.
However, aluminium ingot remained steady on scattered buying by stockists.
In ferrous metals category, brass cuttings declined by Rs 100 per quintal on sustained heavy selling pressure by stockists while copper utensils edged up by Rs 100 per quintal due to lesser stock supply by stockists.
Copper heavy, brass utensils and aluminium utensils remained unchanged, traders added.
Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy - Rs 36,500, copper utensils - Rs 33,200, brass utensils - Rs 25,400, brass cuttings - Rs 26,300 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,100.
Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars - Rs 40,100, aluminium ingots - Rs 14,300, zinc slab - Rs 11,300, lead ingots - Rs 12,700, tin slab - Rs 1,060 per kg and nickel cathode - Rs 1,335 per kg.
