Bangalore, May 9 (UNI) Acting on the objection raised by the Election Commission, Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur today ordered withdrawal of Government Order with regard to the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE).

The EC had taken objection to the State Government taking the decision during the Governor rule, while election code of conduct was in force. The Government in an order had decided to hand-over 2200 acres of land to NICE, which was building the Bangalore-Mysore Express Corridor.

The order which gave green signal to hand-over land worth Rs 30,000 crore just days before the first phase polls for the assembly elections in Karnataka came under criticism from the Janata Dal(S).

The Governor today issued an order withdrawing the Government Order No PWD 53 CRM 2007 dated April 30.

The State Executive Committee, headed by Mr Thakur, had decided to hand-over 2,200 acres of land acquired for the mega project to NICE.
