Kochi, May 9 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today admitted two petitions challenging the 'single window' system for admissions to 'Plus Two' courses in the state, announced recently by the LDF government.

Justice P N Raveendran also recorded the undertaking of the government counsel that the government would not take steps to implement the scheme till May 13.

The court would consider the petitions, filed by the managements of the Idukki and Changnassery Dioceses, on that day.

The petitioners challenged the government order of April 29, 2008, implementing a 'single window' system for 'Plus Two'admissions, on the ground that it violated the Kerala Education Rules (KER), under which the students needed to apply to the school in which they were seeking admission.

The petitioners contended that the 'single window' system was violative of the spirit of the KER.

They also contended that the scheme was violative of the Article 30 (1) of the Constitution, which granted special rights to minorities to run their educational institutions.
