Beijing, May 9 (UNI) Defending champion Gaurav Ghei missed the cut by one stroke while his compatriot Rahil Gangjee fired a brilliant four under 68 in the second round to leapfrog to tied 17th position at the Pine Valley Beijing Open Golf here today.
Gangjee super performance helped him to climb from overnight tied 59th to tied 17th position.
Digvijay Singh will join Gangjee as the other Indian representative in the field over the next two days. Digvijay's second round 72 helped him make the cut which stood at even par 144.
Apart from Ghei other Indian Amandeep Johl also missed the cut.
Japan's Hiroyuki Fujita (67, 65) is the current leader at twelve under 132.
Rahil Gangjee (72, 68) came up with a solid 68 to take his overall score to four under 140. His second round effort saw him knock down birdies on the fifth, eighth, 11th, 16th and 18th. He also bogeyed the par three 12th.
Digvijay Singh (72, 72) is currently tied 58th at even par 144.
His second consecutive 72 was marked by birdies on the 14th and ninth and bogeys on the second and third.
Gaurav Ghei (73, 72) missed the cut by one stroke as he totalled one over 145 for the first two rounds. He finished the tournament at tied 70th place. Ghei sank birdies on the 13th, second and eighth and dropped bogeys on the 12th, first and sixth.
Amandeep Johl (77, 80) ended the tournament in tied 144th place at thirteen over 157. His round included two birdies, eight bogeys and one double bogey.
