Dolphin killed, case registered
Lucknow, May 9: Police have registered a case into the killing of Dolphin by some locals here.
A case has been registered under section nine and 51 of the Wildlife Conservation Act, as per which the accused can be sentenced for three years imprisonment and fined of Rs 5,000, sources said.
Yesterday, a male and a female dolphin were spotted into a canal by locals, who later thrashed the animals with sticks severely and killed the male dolphin.
Meanwhile, the Forest officials had sent the carcass to zoo for post-mortem and started a search for the other dolphin.
The investigation was on.
