Dasmunsi warns of more deaths in Nandigram if polls not postponed
Berhampore, May 9 (UNI) Congress leader and Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi today apprehended that there might more deaths in embattled Nandigram if the May 11 Panchayat elections there were not postponed.
Campaigning in Goaljan Gram Panchayat in Murshidabad district, the minister said there was no 'Ganatantra'(democracy) in West Bengal but only 'partytantra'(party rule).
He lashed out at the ruling CPI(M) led Left Front for the ''sorry situation'' in the state, particularly in Nandigram.
''If the elections in Nandigram are held as scheduled there will be more deaths,'' he warned.
Of the total 3534 seats for the May 18 three-tier Panchayat polls in Murshidabad, the Congress has fielded 3317 candidates.
