CM meeets LG on selective sealing
New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today met Lt Governor Tejender Khanna on the sealing drive being carried out in the capital allegedly in a discriminatory manner.
Informing him that MCD personnel had entered the premises of professionals who had been exempted under the Delhi Master Plan 2021 along with other small shopkeepers, Ms Dikshit said the move was causing extreme harassment to them.
''This was leading to unpleasant situations in most of the cases and was victimisation and an onslaught on the privacy of the citizens.'' LG Khanna immediately passed strictures that any officer found violating established procedures for sealing and entering into the house/premises of professionals/small shopkeepers will attract the severest action, according to a CM House release.
Today's meeting between the CM and the LG was a follow-up to her letter addressed to Union Home Minister, Urban Development Minister and the LG stating that the manner in which sealing was being carried out by the MCD was ''a permissive implementation of the sealing requirements amounting to pick and choose''.
