Chopra tied 35th after 1st round at Players Championship

By Staff

Florida, May 9 (UNI) Daniel Chopra shot an even par 72 in the first round to be tied 35th in the 9.5 million dollar Players Championship here.

A penultimate hole bogey denied the Indian born Swede a sub-par card.

A 10th tee starter, Chopra had a birdie-bogey start, followed by a string of six par shots.

His first round was marked by birdies on the second and 10th and bogeys on the eighth and 11th.

On his front nine, Chopra birdied the second hole to go one-under but once again the good work was undone by the bogey on the eighth.

Sergio Garcia fired a six-under 66 to grab the lead, with Kenny Perry and Paul Goydos chasing him from two shots behind.
