Villagers' dwellings razed for constructing sewage plant
Jabalpur, May 8 (UNI) Former Union Minister Prahlad Patel today alleged that Jabalpur district administration and the Municipal Corporation had demolished houses of villagers in Kathauda village in this district in the name of acquiring land for sewage plant.
Mr Patel, who has been sitting on fast since yesterday to protest against the incident, said villagers were arrested on false charge of arson and their dwellings razed. He demanded that the demolished hutments of seven families be re-constructed.
He alleged that four minor girls were sent to jail for a day. A complaint has been sent to the Madhya Pradesh State Women's Commission in this regard demanding inquiry into the matter and action against guilty. Besides, one woman was also forced to stay out in the open along with her children.
Mr Patel and his supporters were arrested when he protested against land acquisition action on May 5. He sat on fast after he was released yesterday.
