Indian PM calls for decentralization of power
New Delhi, May 8th 2008: Indian PM Manmohan Singh on Wednesday called for devolution of powers to rural governing bodies for improved efficiency in governance and greater equity.
Addressing probationers of the Indian Administrative Services in New Delhi, Singh said that with 65 percent of India"s population living in rural areas, rural infrastructure and food security need to be strengthened.
