Srirangam, Tamil Nadu, May 8 (UNI) The first batch of candidates who have completed the one-year training in Vaishnavite religious rituals under the 'Anaivarum Archagar Agalam' Programme, performed their first 'homam' at Sri Kaatazhagiasingar Temple here yesterday in the presence of the Jeeyar of the Srirangam Jeeyar Mutt, Sri Ranga Narayana Jeeyar .
Thirty candidates performed 'Sri Sudharsana Homam' for world prosperity and peace as part of their training programme. It was divided into Sanskrit and Tamil sessions. The candidates recited verses and hymns for two hours in each session.
Joint Commissioner HR and CE Department Joint Commissioner and Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple Executive Officer of M Kavitha said the candidates would sit for a written test to be conducted by the month-end.
