NBL ties up with IL

Hyderabad, May 8 (UNI) Nandan Biomatrix Limited (NBL) has tied up with IL and FS Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited to establish first of its kind Bio Investment Eco Industrial Zone (BIEZ) in the country.

Speaking on the occasion of the tie-up announcement here today, an NBL official said the feasibility report was expected in next three months and each BIEZ was expected to have investment of Rs 500 to Rs 600 crore.

''Biofuels will help us in ensuring energy security in the backdrop of deteriorating global conditions. The challenge before us is to harness the potential of this renewable energy resource," he said.

NBL, which was aimed to become the largest Biodiesel producer in India, had an integrated bio-refinery model with both forward and backward linkages.

The company was embarking on large scale Jatropha cultivation of over two million acres, 800,000 hectares, spread across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Orissa and Jharkhand.

NBL had tied-up with International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) here for Jatropha crop research.

NBL, a leader in the biofuel sector, had applied for four patents in Jatropha for high yields and oil content. IL and FS Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, a fully owned subsidiary and infrastructure arm of IL and FS Limited, was one of India's leading infrastructure development and finance companies with 25 parks across the country.

The Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) had also entered into a joint venture with NBL to procure the biofuel produced from BIEZ project for their all India blending requirments.
