Mumbai Indians to play next 2 IPL home matches at Wankhede

By Staff

Mumbai, May 8 (UNI) In a view to make it more convenient for spectators to attend the IPL matches, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has shifted the venue for the next two games, against Chennai and Kolkata, to the Wankhede Stadium.

''We received a fax from the MCA stating that the venue has been shifted for the two games. We don't know the details though,'' secretary of DY Patil Sports Academy Avinash Salvi told Cricinfo.

The MCA has told the DY Patil authorities that Mumbai's next two games, scheduled to be held on May 14 and May 16, falls on weekdays so it would be difficult for the fans to travel such a long distance late in the evening.

The DY Patil stadium was scheduled to host Mumbai Indian's five league games. But last week, there was speculation that the two games on May 14 and 16 might be shifted to the Wankhede, because the Mumbai team management had cited that the stadium was too far from the team hotel. The ground, located in Nerul, is about 40 km away from the hotel.
