Four candidates in fray from Amritsar South assembly bypoll
Amritsar, May 8 (UNI) Four candidates have been left in the electoral fray from the Amritsar South assembly bypoll to be held on May 22.
No candidate withdrew from the fray on the last date of withdrawls today, official sources here said.
Those left in the fray are Inderbir Singh of the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Navdeep Goldie of the Congress, Bhai Ram Singh of the Akali Dal (Amritsar) and Sharanjit Singh (Ind).
A total of nine candidates had filed their nominations for the bypoll. While the papers of one candidate was rejected, two others withdrew from the fray yesterday.
The bypoll was necessitated following the death of Raminder Singh Bolaria, who had won this seat on the SAD ticket in the February elections last year.
