Bangalore, May 8: Dr Sabeel Ahmed, the Indian doctor deported from the UK after being sentenced to 18 months jail for withholding information on the failed Glasgow Airport attack, arrived here today.

He arrived in the wee hours by a British Airways flight and was escorted by two Metropolitan police officers from London.

Taken through the VIP gate, even as a posse of mediapersons waited at the arrival lounge, the bearded Indian doctor, clad in white, was driven straight to his parent's home in Banashankari layout.

Dr Sabeel (28) was charged with withholding information on the Glasgow Airport attack by his younger brother Kafeel Ahmed, who reportedly drove a blazing explosives-laden Cherokee jeep into the airport on June 30, 2007.

Kafeel succumbed to burns after struggling for two months in hospital.

A London court ordered his immediate deportation to India, though he had been sentenced to 18 months in jail in the UK. He was charged with withholding information about the email sent by Kafeel on the impending attack.

Another group of newspersons was present at the house of the Ahmeds house, however, no one including his parents Maqbool and Zakia came forward to react.

Although the mother politely requested the mediapersons to leave, the press corps remained.

Dr Zakia said her son was reluctant to speak to the media. ''I will try to convince him... please give him a couple of days,'' she added.
