Coldplay to promote soccer on ESPN

Washington, May 8 : Coldplay are all set to follow in the footsteps of Ricky Martin's soccer anthem 'A Cup Of Life,' for the British rock band has teamed up with ESPN on a football marketing campaign.

According to the agreement, ESPN will use music from the band's upcoming album as part of the network's promotion of its upcoming coverage of the Euro 2008 soccer tournament.

The network will incorporate "Viva La Vida," the first single off of th band's upcoming album Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, during in-studio and game production.

ESPN will be using the band's music in commercials teasing the tournament, taking place June 7-29 in Austria and Switzerland.

"This is the first time ESPN has created a global marketing campaign with a unified strategy, message and advertising campaign. The campaign captures the passion for European soccer," E! Online quoted ESPN senior director of sports marketing Seth Ader, as saying.
