Mumbai, May 8 (UNI) A meeting of Assistant Municipal Commissioners of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) was held here recently to deliberate on the proposed policy to issue marriage certificates to couples from its 24 ward offices.
Speaking to reporters here, BMC Commissioner Jairaj Phatak said the AMCs, in the meeting held on May 3, discussed the details of the policy and the documents required to issue the marriage certificate to the couples.
''The officials discussed the various aspects of issuing the marriage certificate and suggested many tips and suggestions for the implementation of the policy,'' he added.
It may be noted that the BMC had last month decided to issue marriage certificate to couples through its 24 ward offices and ease the load on Marriage Registrar's office. It has drafted a policy to implement the same.
The local ward offices will soon be empowered to issue marriage certificates after the clearance of the policy.
