Lucknow, May 8(UNI) Making a critical remark on the functioning of the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Lok Sabha member Sumitra Mahajan said no work of 'Bahujan Hitaye' (people's welfare) was seen so far in the one year rule of the BSP government.
''In the last one year, the state government only worked on its personal agenda and is doing nothing for the people,'' Ms Mahajan said.
Addressing a press conference here, the ex-union minister, said that there should be no excuse by the BSP government for doing nothing for the people as it was voted to power with full majority.
''Installing statues and constructing monuments would not serve the suffering people of the state,'' she said, while advising the BSP government to commence developmental works for the masses.
The BJP leader, who was here to assess the party's prospects in the coming Lok Sabha polls in four constituencies of Rae Bareli, Unnao, Barabanki and Mohanlalganj, said the party has targetted the 150 seats in the country from where they lost in the last general elections.
The party has started the preliminary round of assessment of seats after the delimitation and selection process for winnable candidates, she informed.
