Udupi, Karnataka, May 8: In a rare instance, a swamiji of one of the Ahsta Mutts (eight Mutts) of Udupi has joined election campaign in support of a Congress candidate.
Sri Laxmivara Thirtha Swamiji of Shiroor Mutt accompanied Pramod Madhwaraj of the Congress, who is the son of Udupi BJP MP Manorama Madhwaraj, in the door-to-door campaign in Malpe and Padukere seeking votes.
During his interactions with the voters of the locality, the swamiji said Mr Pramod was a gentleman and the voters would get good work from him if he was elected.
Mr Pramod not only should become a MLA but also a minister in the next Congress Government, he said.
Pleasantly surprised to see the seer at their doorstep, people of the two villages offered respects to him.
