4 of marriage party drowned in Narmada
Narsinghpur(MP), May 8(UNI) Four members of a marriage party were drowned when an overcrowded boat capsized in the Narmada river near Chinki-Umaria ghat of this district early this morning.
About 40 members of a marriage party had boarded the boat, which capsized in the middle of the river. The boatman and others, including the bridegroom, swam to safety, police said.
Bodies of Umaria-resident Jitendra(16), Jabalpur residents Mahendra(22) and Rajju(20) and Narsinghpur resident Rakesh were fished out by divers.
The marriage party hailing from Piparha village was on its way to Taradehi in Damoh district.
