Seven criminals arrested in Jammu

Jammu, May 7: Notorious criminal Vipan Bhoot was arrested along with his six associates here last night, police said today.

Acting on a tip-off that criminal Vipan Gupta alias Vipan Bhoot and his associates were planning some heinous crime, police launched a hunt to trace them in the city.

'' All the criminals, including Vipan Bhoot, were arrested while they were consuming liquor in a bus at Patel Nagar on the intervening night of May 5 and 6,'' police said.

Four sharp-edged weapons were also recovered from their possession, police said.

The arrested associates of Bhoot were identified as Sukhdev Raj Singh, Sunny Sharma, Sunil Sharma, Sourav Sharma and Ravi Sharma and Rakesh Kotwal.

More than a dozen cases of murder, attempt to murder and stabbing had already been registered against Bhoot.

The interrogation of the arrested criminals was going on to ascertain their plans and involvement in other cases, police added.
