Patna, Mar 7 (UNI) Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today suggested using scientific research in the interest of mankind and announced setting up of a modern scientific research laboratory in Bihar.
Inaugurating the first scientific conference, Mr Kumar said here that the lab, having modern equipment and other facilities, would be set up soon in Patna for carrying out scientific and technical research.
Mr Kumar reiterated his commitment to improve educational atmosphere saying that the government was concentrating on establishing better technological institutes. Setting up of BIT Mesra was an example of this. Besides, opening up of the prestigious IIT was in the pipeline, he informed.
Mr Kumar said teaching in BIT Mesra had started since 2006 and its building had also been constructed.
He further stated that the government had set up Law University and Chandragupta Institute of Management and promised to develop Bihar as an important hub for higher as well as technical education and learning within the next 6-7 years.
He said the new generation was interested in exploring new technologies adding that the scientific advancement should be used in the interest of human being and its negative use avoided.
Mr Kumar suggested concentrating on the moral aspect of the information technology, nano technology, human genome, genetically modified food, DNA, molecular biology, biotechnology, cloning and others.
