Moaists shoot dead Sub-Inspector, injure three jawans
Hazaribag, May 7 (UNI) A sub-inspector was killed and three jawans were seriously injured today when CPI(Maoist) ultras fired indiscriminately at a police van at Holangmur under Bishnupur police station, about 35 km from this district.
Oliver Purty, Sub-Inspector (wireless supervisor) of Giridih, died on the spot while three policemen--Ramkaran Manjhi, Shailendra Das and Soma Khalko were injured in the incident.
Official sources said the injured were rushed to Sadar hospital after primary treatment at the Central Reserve Police Force hospital located at Meru area here.
However, police teams of Giridih, Ramgarh and Bokaro were conducting raids in the area.
The incident occurred at about 0800 hrs when the Ranchi-bound van from Giridih district reached the spot. The ultras hiding inside the jungle, along National Highway 100, opened fire on them.
Besides two bags full of medicine and wires, police recovered two can bombs weighing 35 and 20 kilograms from the spot.
