Massive repair work on damaged Kuhls and link roads begin in Leh
Srinagar, May 7 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has launched a massive work to repair kuhls and link roads, damaged due to flood and cloudburst last year in Gonpa, Leh district of Ladakh region.
The flood and cloudburst in 2006-07 had badly damaged the link roads, head works of the Kuhls and irrigation canals there, an official spokesman said today.
He said state Minister for Commerce and Industries Nawang Rigzin Jora visited the Gonpa and inspected the restoration work of different kuhls, head work of the kuhls in view of the ensuing irrigation season.
The Minister along with the officers inspected the sites which among others include Shasthang Rdzing, Shasthang Kuhl, Changri Kuhl, Paina Yurgo, rdzing soma, rdzing-lokhul, Changyur and Borgo rdzing.
He issued on spot instruction to Engineers to construct protection bunds on vulnerable spots and repair the headwork of the damaged kuhls.
The Minister instructed the engineers to put an added dedication to repair the khul so that the farmers get the water for irrigation.
