Indian envoy calls on PM to discuss govt formation

Kathmandu, May 7 : Indian ambassador to Nepal Rakesh Sood called on Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala on Wednesday at the PM's official residence in Baluwatar and discussed the latest political situation in Nepal and formation of the next government.

PM's meeting with the Indian envoy occurred at a time when the PM has intensified his consultations with foreign diplomats while the homework is being carried out regarding the model and formation of a new government.

According to Kantipur, during the meeting, the PM enquired about India's view if the future government is formed in the Maoist leadership, sources said.

In response to PM's enquiry, Sood reiterated that India will accept the decision of Nepali people.

According to sources, Sood added the Indian government will accept and extend support to the next government which will be formed as per the understanding and consensus among the parties.

Likewise, the PM also urged Sood to unleash the blockade imposed by the Indian government in the export of construction materials.

Sources said that PM Koirala has intensified discussions with foreign diplomats so as to get the international community's view while the Communist arty of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-M), as the single largest party in the Constituent Assembly (CA), has been claiming the leadership of the next government.

Sood stated that Indian government will respect and accept the decision and mandate of Nepali citizens and the agreements of other political parties prior to the formation of the new government.

Earlier on Monday, Koirala had consulted with the envoys of half-a-dozen countries including Australia, Finland, France and Britain.

Meanwhile, Sood also held discussions with Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula this morning.
