Madurai, May 7 (UNI) Criticising the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government, led by the Congress, at the Centre for not acceding to the suggestions of the CPI (M) to control inflation, Party General Secretary Prakash Karat today said ten lakh cadres would court arrest on May 15, across the country.
Addressing a press conference here, he alleged that the Centre had not taken any steps to control price rise.
''We sought the Centre to ban futures trading on 25 essential food commodities. But the ban has been enforced for just four food commodities,'' he added.
He also alleged that the Centre had not taken any action to strengthen the Public Distribution System.
The party would discuss the matter with other like- minded parties to carry forward the agitation, he added.
On the Assembly polls in Karnataka, he said the CPM was contesting elections in nine segments. In other constituencies, the party would support the candidate who could defeat the BJP.
