Caste certificate must at time of filing nominations for civic polls
Mumbai, May 7 (UNI) The Maharashtra Municipal Corporations and Municipal Councils (Amendment) Act, 2008, entails that a person desirous of contesting an election to a reserved seat must submit, at the time of filing nomination papers, the caste certificate issued by the competent authority.
The person must also submit the validity certificate issued by the Scrutiny Committee. Earlier, the validity certificate could be submitted within a period of four months from the date of the election, an official release said here today.
The amended Act has been published in the Maharashtra Government Gazette of May 2, 2008, the release added.
