BJP indulged in misleading country on terrorism: Sonia

Bangalore, May 7(UNI) AICC President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi today camedown heavily on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) saying that the Opposition party in the Lok Sabha was indulged in misleading the people on tackling terrorism by Congress during the election campaign in Karnataka.

Addressing a well attended public meeting at Tumkur, 65 km from here and in the city, Ms Gandhi lambasted that BJP rising the issue to coverup its failure during NDA regime in tackling terrorism in the country.

" The BJP led NDA government had miserably failed in preventing the attack on our Parliament while in session, innocent and peace living devotees were killed in Aksharadhama temple in Gujarath, dreaded terrorists lodged in high security jail were escorted to safety by none other than our foreign affairs minister and to cover all these BJP is now pointing finger towards Congress" Mr Gandhi charged.

Ms Gandhi, who did not touch inflation, however promised that Congress will strive hard for the empowerement of all sections of the society. "Congress is the only party which will never compromise its ideologies for any political gain" she added.

At Tumkur Ms Gandhi expressed confidence in Congress bouncing back to power in Karnataka as people of the State have seen ill-effects of the worst governance by JD(S)-BJP combine's power hungry and opportunistic alliance.

Stating that non-Congress government's in Karnataka were never successful in fulfilling the aspirations of the people of the state Ms Gandhi promised a stable government which will last its full term. "We want to provide a responsive and transparent government" she said.
