Srinagar, May 7 (UNI) A senior leader of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from north Kashmir Javid Ahmad Dar along with his supporters today joined National Conference (NC).
Mr Dar was the second senior leader of the PDP who joined the main opposition party in the state in less than a week.
Announcing his decision to join the NC at a press conference here today, Mr Dar said he left the PDP because the party has no agenda for the people of Kashmir.
Mr Dar, from Rafiabad in north Kashmir, said he alongwith his hundreds of supporters, was joining the NC which is the only party representing the aspirations of the people of all the three regions of the state.
The NC patron and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and other senior leaders were present on the occasion.
Welcoming Mr Dar in the party Dr Abdullah urged youths to come forward and lead the people.
We are now old and can only guide youths to march forward, he said.
In reply to a question Dr Abdullah said the process of selecting candidates for the General Assembly election scheduled to be held later this year will start soon.
There is no Chief Ministerial candidate and it will be decided after elections, he said.
