Basirhat, May 7 (UNI) At least 30 people, including five policemen, were injured during a clash between the Trinamool Congress-BJP workers and CPI(M) at Amberia village under Hingalgunj police station in North 24 Parganas district today.
Police here said a BJP supporter was found hanging in the morning.
The BJP and Trinamool Congress leaders alleged that the deceased was killed by CPI(M) hoodlums.
As the Opposition workers and supporters took out a procession condemning the alleged killing, a local CPI(M) leader's house was attacked leading to a clash, police added.
A posse of police force rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control.
At least five policemen were injured in a bid to pacify the warring groups, while 30 party activists also sustained injuries.
Opposition political parties alleged that during the clash at least seven houses and shops were ransacked and looted by the CPI(M) hoodlums, but the charge was refuted by the CPI(M).
