Vaiko blames MK of betraying Tamils on Hogenekkal
Madurai, May 6 (UNI) MDMK General Secretary Vaiko today accused Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi of betraying the interests of Tamils on the Hogenekkal Drinking Water Project.
''A Chief Minister of the State will never commit such a mistake,'' he told newspersons here today.
''Mr Karunanidhi had taken such a favourable decision for Karnataka, only to help his ally Congress win the coming Assembly elections in the State,'' he alleged.
''He (Mr Karunanidhi) has lost the moral responsibility of holding the Chief Minister's post. Karnataka State will have two Chief Ministers, one at Gopalapuram (where Mr Karunanidhi's residence is located in Chennai) and another at Bangalaru,'' he said.
On the Sri Lankan Tamils issue, Mr Vaiko urged the Centre to exert pressure on the island nation's government to hold peace talks with the LTTE.
