New Delhi, May 6 (UNI) Noting that some unscrupulous persons have been issuing false appointment to certain jobs in the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the DMRC authorities today warned aspiring job seekers against such fraud appointments.
''Some unscrupulous people have been issuing false appointment letters appointing aspiring job seekers as Engineers, Customer Care Staff, Office Assistant etc. in the DMRC. These people were informed by the DMRC authorities that the appointment letters issued to them were fake and have not been issued by the DMRC when they came to join the organisation,''DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dayal said.
In this context, the spokesperson clarified that all appointments to the DMRC are notified in the official website www.delhimetrorail.com in the career section.
''All letters of appointment in the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation are issued under the signature of the Chief Personnel Officer located at NBCC Place, Bhishma Pitamah Marg, Pragati Vihar, New Delhi for appointments related to the Project wing of DMRC while the Joint General Manager (Recruitment and Training) and the Senior Personnel Officer located at the Office of Director Operations, Training Depot Premises, Shastri Park, Delhi-52 issue the appointment connected to the Operations and Maintenance Wing of DMRC,''the spokesperson said.
He said the selections to the Delhi Metro are done generally through a process of competitive examination conducted by the DMRC followed by interview and Medical Test.
''The entire process i e list of shortlisted candidates is on the website at every stage. All candidates should therefore check the DMRC website to check the authenticity of any appointment offer given to them by anybody in India,''he said.
The spokesperson said that about 16 cases of fake appointments to DMRC have already been registered with the Police since 2003 and FIRs lodged. The DMRC had also taken out advertisements warning people against such fraud appointments.
''Cases were registered by Delhi Police at Lodhi Road and Shastri Park Police Station and the DCP (South), Additional DCP Railways, DCP(North/East) and DCP (North/West) were informed about these cases in 2003 itself.
In March 2008, an FIR was lodged with Shastri Park Metro Police Station by one Mukesh and 5 others under Section 420-as Mukesh had been given a fake appointment letter as an Engineer in the DMRC. The case is in progress. The latest case of fraud appointment pertains to one Deepak Sharma of Shahdara, who was given a fake appointment letter as a Token Collector in DMRC on April 25 this year and asked to join on May 4. The case is being sent to the Shastri Park Police Station for lodging an FIR,''Mr Dayal said.
He said the Managing Director of the DMRC, E Sreedharan had also written to the then Commissioner of Police in 2003 in this connection to expedite action in the matter.
