Two men held for counterfeiting
Jaunpur, May 6 (UNI) A joint team of district police and Special Operation Group (SOG) busted an inter-state fake currency racket and arrested two people with 20,000 counterfeit notes in Siddiqpur area here late last night, police said today.
On a tip-off, Saraykhwaja police station in-charge S S Pandey and SOG in-charge Sunil Singh initiated a vehicle checking drive in Siddiqpur area and arrested two counterfeiters.
Police recovered 20,000 Rs 500 fake currency from them.
Vijay Kumar and Subhash of Azamgarh used to import counterfeits from neighbouring districts in Nepal and other states of India.
Duo, who were active in eastern Uttar Pradesh and nearby areas, had been booked under National Security Act (NSA).
Police administration had announced reward of Rs 2,500 each to the police team.
