IPL promoting sprit of cricket: McGrath

By Staff

New Delhi, May 6 (UNI) Praising the ongoing IPL for providing cricketers with a good platform to know each other better, former Australian speedster Glenn McGrath today said the lucrative Twenty20 league is helping to uphold the sprit of the game.

''IPL has brought different cultures from different countries together,'' McGrath told mediapersons here. ''The interaction of the players help to develop friendship among the players and as a whole, it contributes to the spirit of cricket.'' The 38-year-old from New South Wales was happy with his current fitness and is looking forward to continueing his good form in the competition.

''I am myself surprised as how good my body is feeling at the moment,'' McGrath remarked. ''It has been doing good so far, hope it remains the same in future.'' Stating that he is ''feeling very good'' playing for the Delhi team, McGrath praised Daredevils skipper Virender Sehwag.

''I am feeling very good to be a part of this team and Sehwag is a great captain,'' he said.

McGrath also praised compatriot Shane Warne for his captaincy skills during the ongoing IPL.

''He is a great player and he leads from the front,'' McGrath told mediapersons here.

''He has done a great job in putting the team together and motivating them to give their best,'' he added.

The Delhi Daredevils seamer, however, insisted that there will be no love lost when his side takes on the Warne-led Rajasthan Royals.

''I would love to play against Shane and win,'' McGrath said.
