Adampur, Hisar, May 6 (UNI) Playing the development card in the Adampur constituency of his strong opponent Bhajan Lal, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today assured the people of a rapid development in the next two years which would beat the record of development made in the past 40 years.
Mr Hooda was addressing a public meeting at Mangali village in Adampur assembly constituency in support of Congress candidate Ranjit Singh. Adampur is one of the three constituencies in Haryana where byelections would be held on May 22.
He said the people of Adampur assembly constituency had always elected Congress candidates and claimed that they would again elect the Congress nominee in the byelection with a record margin.
Referring to former chief minister Bhajan Lal who was contesting the seat as Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) candidate, he regretted that although the former Adampur MLA remained Chief Minister of the state for 15 years, this assembly constituency always remained backward in terms of development.
He said the leaders of the area had made tall promises with the people, but they never proved true to their word.
In Adampur, he said, instead of doing mass welfare, some people concentrated more on grinding their own axe. While assuring to usher in a new era of rapid development in the area, Mr Hooda said their vote cast in favour of Congress candidate would elect two legislators, one would be Mr Ranjit Singh and the other would be he himself (Hooda).
The Chief Minister said those who had lust for power had thrust this byelection upon the people. Without naming Mr Bhajan Lal, Mr Hooda said the former Chief Minister never got any work done in favour of any community.
He said Mr Bhajan Lal never safeguarded the interests of the farming community whereas the present the Haryana government got the MSP of wheat increased by Rs 250.
