Madikeri, May 6 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today attacked those who have looked down the 'Gujarat model', which he claimed had provided the best governance in the country.
Speaking at election rallies in Kushalnagar and Virajpet in Kodagu district, he said the party was committed to building Karnataka under the Gujarat model once it won in the ensuing election.
''People who oppose, when I say this, are deliberately ignoring the prosperity that had been brought by BJP in Gujarat. Agriculture income was quadrupled, while all villages got best quality power,'' he said.
He claimed that the cotton farmers got the best price for their product in Gujarat. ''Foreign buyers are actually buying cotton from the fields in our state.'' ''If some people say that Karnataka should not become Gujarat, then they are against development,'' Mr Modi said.
Hitting hard at the Centre. he said that the UPA government could not match Gujarat in the race for development.
He said Kodagu, the land of warriors had many problems - coffee had no proper market, previous governments had ignored the holy land. However, BJP had fully recognised the problems of this hilly district, he said, and appealed ''I have come from the land of Narmada to seek vote for the son of Cauvery, please vote for BJP.'' Candidate from Madikeri, Ranjan Appachu welcomed the gathering at Kushalnagar and candidate K G Boppaiah welcomed the gathering at Virajpet.
