Composite index of metals and energy edge up

Mumbai, May 6 (UNI) The composite index of metal and energy edged up by 2,876.17 points at the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) here today.

Energy gained 0.67 per cent and Agri by 0.51 pc.

Among gold contracts, December 2008 contract was up by 1.49 pc at Rs 11,728 per 10 gm and October 2008 contract gained 1.38 pc at Rs 11,637 per 10 gm. Silver December 2008 contract advanced by 0.83 pc at Rs 23,070 per kg.

Lead and Zinc May 2008 contracts gained 1.10 pc at Rs 106 per kg and 0.83 pc at Rs 90.85 per kg respectively.

All crude oil contracts gained, with June 2008 contract gaining by 0.54 pc at Rs 4,846 per barrel. All CFI contracts remained unchanged at their previous levels.

All contracts in cardamom, turmeric, rubber, menthaoil and jute advanced. Refsoyoil July 2008 contract inched up by 2.03 pc at Rs 581.70 per 10 kg, cardamom July 2008 contract up by 1.87 pc at Rs 598.50 per kg, turmeric May 2008 contract up by 1.32 pc at Rs 3,311 per quintal and rubber June 2008 contract up by 1.91 pc at Rs 11715 per quintal.

Crude oil August 2008 contract was up 3.84 pc at Rs 4,735 per barrel, an MCX release said.
