London, May 6 : The latest feather in Amy Winehouse's cap is the invitation from Nelson Mandela to perform at his birthday bash.

If reports are to be believed, the former president of South Africa personally called to invite the 'Rehab' star to present a gig at his star-studded birthday bash on June 27.

"Amy was stunned when she got the call. She thought it was a hoax - well you would wouldn't you!" the Mirror quoted an insider, as saying.

The insider added: "But once she worked out it really was him she accepted straight away and gushed about how much she was looking forward to it. She couldn't believe it."

In fact, the five-time Grammy-winner will be opening the concert to mark Nelson's 90th birthday in London's Hyde Park, which includes performances by the likes of Sir Elton John, Razorlight, Queen, Bono, and Annie Lennox. Also, special guest Dame Shirley Bassey has been asked to lead a rendition of Happy Birthday.

"While Amy's personal life is under strain her career is going from strength to strength. Having Nelson ask her to perform is such a boost," revealed a source.

The fund raised from the event will go to 46664, Mandela's Aids charity named after his prison number.

"It'll be explosive - one big party. Maybe Sir Elton John will duet with Amy like he did with Pete Doherty at Live 8. Whatever happens Amy is sure to be the highlight," said the source.
