Jammu, May 5 (UNI) Common population of Pakistan considers the United States as its number one enemy, General Officer Commanding XVI 'White Knight' Corps Lt Gen R K Karwal said here today.
Delivering a key note address on a two-day national seminar on ''Pakistan: Past, Present and Future'' at Jammu University, Lt Gen Karwal said the common masses in Pakistan are not anti-Taliban because they feel the radical force is fighting against their number one enemy, the US.
''Pakistan is now experiencing the side effects of the US presence on its ground'' Lt Gen Karwal, who also had his stint as Military Advisor in High Commission of India at Islamabad, said.
However, there is no change in the policy of Pakistan with regard to India, the GOC of XVI 'White Knight' Corps asserted.
He said the terrorist infrastructure across the borders was intact and Pakistan retains the ability to calibrate the intensity of the proxy war against India.
Lt Gen Karwal also emphasised on the changing world scenario which has witnessed the emergence of various power centers and the role of India due to its rising economic status and military power in the new world order.
Eminent personalities, constitutional experts, defense strategists, educationists and journalists will be focusing on the idea and evolution of Pakistan; its political process and institutions, public sphere and civil society etc in the two-day seminar.
