Hyderabad, May 5 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today alleged that the opposition parties were politicising the fire mishap at Asia's largest Chilli yard in Guntur though the state government had responded immediately.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters 'Gandhi Bhavan' here, party spokespersons P Venkata Rao and N Tulasi Reddy said it was wrong to politicise the unfortunate incident when Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy visited the spot and assured the farmers of necessary help.
Mr Rao said the Chief Minister had announced full compensation for the affected farmers, who lost their produce in the fire, and also ordered a high-level committee to identify, assess and quantify the loss caused by the fire.
Mr Tulasi Reddy refuted the charge of opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu that the Chief Minister had lost control on the administration.
He claimed that the state government was ranked number four in implementing the 20-point programme. It was in the 21st position during the TDP regime.
Alleging that Mr Naidu was making unrea;ostoc promises during his ''chaitanya yatra'', he claimed that the promises were aimed at elections as he was hoping to come back to power.
He alleged that the people would not believe the promises made by Mr Naidu as they witnessed the 'anti-people' policies adopted by him during the nine-year TDP rule.
